The leaf is considered as the heart of the filter and its most critical part. Each leaf consists of many layers of wire mesh fastened by rivets held in a tubular frame. The ribs on both sides of each leaf serve as the stream of the fluid filtered through the neck. It is covered with coarse screen mesh that supports the Dutch weave which retains the cake. The space between each leaf varies between 3-10 cm depending on the size of the cake formed on the leaf. Each leaf can be removed for changing or repairing purposes.
